As of Monday 16/03/2020 and to reduce community transmission of Covid-19 virus, all currently booked and future consultations have been changed to TELEPHONE consultations. A GP will call you on the day of your consultation and will only invite you to come to the surgery if absolutely necessary.
Online Triage System
You can now check your symptoms online before you call the surgery. Please register and use DOCTORLINK to see if you can self manage first. DoctorLink is an online automated consultation tool to provide tailored health advice.
If doctorlink recommends that you need an appointment we will be contacting you.
To request telephone consultations/request prescriptions/ check your results, please do so via NHS app
The identification process can occur completely online and you do not need to come into the surgery to do this.
For patients that are unable to use these online tools, and all self-care measures have been exhausted or your symptoms are worsening or you have a significant health concern, please call the surgery. All appointments have been switched to telephone/video consultations and only patients that really need to be seen face to face after being assessed on the phone by a clinician will be requested to come to the surgery.
The practice will continue to have processes to ensure childhood immunisation and other essential care continues.
To limit /stop footfall to the surgery, we will no longer be issuing printed prescriptions, and all prescriptions will be sent electronically to your pharmacy. If you have not been set up electronically with your pharmacist, you will be asked by text message for your nominated pharmacy so that your prescription can be sent electronically there.

Abernethy House Surgery
Abernethy House Surgery is a well established GP surgery situated near Enfield town centre in a purpose built premises. The surgery has a complement of eight doctors, four nurses, a healthcare assistant and several supporting staff (receptionists, secretaries, switchboard operators, etc.). We work closely with a strong team of community services including community nurses, community matrons, domiciliary phlebotomy and palliative care teams.

Walk-in services and urgent care centres
From Tuesday 1 October 2019, walk-in service activity will be transitioned into the current GP extended access service. This means that from this date walk-in access will no longer be available and any Enfield patients that present at one of the four Enfield GP access hubs will be offered a same day booked appointment instead.
The GP extended access service will continue to provide:
The same service offer - same day and pre-bookable appointments with a GP, nurse or healthcare assistant
The same opening/operational hours - 6.30pm–8pm Mondays to Fridays and 8am–8pm Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
Same GP Hub locations:
o Eagle House Surgery – North East
o Evergreen Primary Care Centre – South East
o The Woodberry Practice – South West
o Carlton House Surgery – North West
Patients are required to request a GP hubs appointment via their own GP practice directly during core opening hours, or via NHS 111 weekday evenings, weekends and bank holidays when the practice is closed.
From 1 October, Enfield residents presenting as walk-in at the GP hubs will be either:
- Triaged and offered a bookable appointment, OR
- Advised to visit their GP practice, OR
- Directed to an alternative NHS service ,OR
- Advised to self-care, if clinically appropriate.
The GP extended access service is available for Enfield residents only. From 1 October, any out of area patients who walk-in at one the Enfield GP hubs will be redirected to NHS 111.
