How do I...
Make An Appointment?

We operate a personal list system which means that whenever possible the patient will see the doctor with whom they are registered or usually see. All surgery consultations are by appointment and should be made by telephoning 0844 477 8600. Please book well in advance for a routine appointment. If you cannot attend please contact reception so that your appointment time can be offered to another patient. Our appointment system enables you to see a GP or Health Care Professional within 48 hours. However, we feel that continuity of care is very important and we encourage our patients to see the same doctor each time. This may mean that for non-urgent problems you may wait longer than 48 hours for an appointment with your usual doctor. Please make a separate appointment for each person who needs to be seen.

Urgent Appointments

If you have an urgent medical problem that will not wait for the next routine appointment, please telephone 0844 477 8600 and dial option 1 to speak to our triage nurse who will arrange appropriate care. The nurse is available between 8.30 and 11.45am and between 2.00 and 3.30pm. You will be seen more quickly if you phone and speak to the nurse rather than coming directly to the surgery. We do not offer a walk-in service. The nurse's priority is to answer telephone calls and arrange emergency appointments.

Chaperoning

For intimate examinations or procedures, the health professionals may use a chaperone. If you would like to be accompanied by a chaperone, please tell the doctor and a fully trained member of staff will be present for the procedure.

Video Consultations

Very occasionally you may be asked if you mind your consultation being videoed in order to help with the training of doctors. If you agree, you will be asked to sign a consent form. Intimate physical examinations will not be recorded and the video recorder will be switched off at your request. If you do not wish your consultation to be videoed you simply need to say so.

How do I...
Obtain Telephone Advice?

If you need to speak to our receptionists regarding a non-urgent matter or for a test result, please telephone between 2.00 and 4.00pm. If you wish to speak to a doctor or one of the practice nurses the best time to telephone is late morning or early afternoon. Please telephone 0844 477 8600.

How do I...
Obtain A Home Visit?

If you need a home visit please telephone 0844 477 8600 before 10.30am if possible. Visits are usually only for those who are housebound. Children who are adequately wrapped can safely be brought to the surgery and will be seen more quickly than if visited at home. Explaining to the switchboard operator what is wrong helps the doctor to see the most urgent cases first and avoid unnecessary delays.

How do I...
Obtain Test Results?

Please telephone 0844 477 8600 after 2.00pm for results of your tests. If the results require urgent attention you will be notified. Our switchboard operator will be able to tell you either that the results are normal or that your doctor will discuss them with you at your next routine visit. Occasionally you may be asked to phone your GP after surgery to discuss your results. The switchboard operator does not have access to further information and is not qualified to give medical advice. If you are worried please speak to your doctor.
