Children's Development
Babies are seen in the surgery at eight weeks for a developmental check with the doctor and also on the same day with the nurse for their first immunisations. Please tell the reception staff that this is the reason for the appointment when you book.
Childhood Immunisations
Children are seen by the doctor before their immunisation programme is started. After this they will be seen by the practice nurses. We strongly recommend that all children are immunised against diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, polio, mumps, measles, rubella, HIB and meningitis, unless your doctor advises you otherwise.
Flu Vaccinations
Please contact the practice from early September. It is important to have a flu vaccine if you are 65 or over or suffer from coronary heart disease, asthma, diabetes or other chronic illnesses. Residents of nursing/residential homes and health workers are also advised to be vaccinated. We will have open sessions for this immunisation for those over 65. These will be advertised.
Travel Immunisations
Daily by appointment during general surgery.
The practice gives advice and immunisations for travel abroad. We are an approved yellow fever vaccination centre. There is a fee for this particular vaccine and for some others. Please ask at reception for further details. Do arrange an appointment for your immunisations at least two months before you are due to travel to ensure that the necessary courses can be completed.
